Burn Pit Open at No Cost to Assist with Pinyon Bark Beetle Tree Removal and Fire Preparation

EAGAR, AZ — Beginning February 13, 2026, through June 12, 2026, the Burn Pit at the Round Valley Transfer Station (Eagar) will accept green waste and woody material at no cost for residents of Eagar and Springerville.

The Burn Pit will be open during normal operating hours:
Tuesday through Saturday
9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

This temporary fee waiver is intended to assist residents in clearing properties of dead and dying pinyon trees impacted by the Pinyon (Pinon) Bark Beetle infestation. The bark beetle has contributed to increased tree mortality throughout the region, creating hazardous fuel loads that elevate wildfire risk.

By removing dead and infested trees now, property owners can:

  • Reduce the spread of bark beetle damage

  • Mitigate hazardous fuel accumulation

  • Improve defensible space around structures

  • Prepare for the upcoming wildland fire season

  • Help protect homes, neighboring properties, and the broader community

  • Beetle infested trees need to be burned within 24 hours of cutting to help stop the spread among other trees.

Community participation is critical in reducing wildfire risk and improving public safety across Round Valley.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and begin mitigation efforts as soon as possible.
