Town of Eagar Begins Work on Hazard Mitigation Plan

A planning team comprised of representatives from Apache County and The Town of Eagar has been meeting regularly to participate in a hazard mitigation planning process. The purpose of this process is to develop a multi-hazard mitigation plan for the Town of Eagar according to The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (DMA2K). The DMA2K requires all local, county, tribal and state governments to have a FEMA approved hazard mitigation plan in order to be eligible for certain federal disaster mitigation funds. This plan focuses on the area’s most threatening hazards and provides a strategy to reduce or eliminate the risk from those hazards to the people and property of the Town of Eagar. The first draft of the Town of Eagar Hazard Mitigation Plan has been completed and is ready for public viewing and comment. The Plan may be viewed at 22 West 2nd Street from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday - Thursday until August 29, 2011 or click here for Draft Plan . For more information please contact Bruce Ray 928-333-4128 Ext. 228

COMMUNITY CALENDAR

YARD OF THE MONTH

Yard of the Month

Town of Eagar September 2011 Yard of the Month

The Town of Eagar's Pitch In - Clean Up Committee selected Rachelle and Jared Austin's  250 N. Divot Street residence as their September 2011 Yard of the Month, the final one for the year.  The Austin's  beautiful yard greatly contributes to Eagar's beauty throughout its neighborhoods. During the months of May through September the Pitch In - Clean Up Committee recognizes local residents who do an outstanding job of maintaining their yards. This local volunteer group also coordinates the Eagar Main Street Beautification Program. Participating Main Street residents and business owners agree to maintain flower planters placed on their property along with the adjacent town road easement from May through August.

The Pitch In - Clean Up Committee is always willing to help local residents needing assistance with cleaning up their property. The committee can provide interested town residents information on companies that are willing to pick up and remove unwanted and inoperable vehicles at no charge to the property owner. For more information, or to volunteer on the Pitch In – Clean Up Committee, contact Lou Carnright who is with the Town of Eagar at (928) 333-4223, ext. 22, or visit the town's website at www.eagaraz.gov.
